Olmos Tower Fire Alarm Procedures (June 2026)
If you are having an emergency, call 911

  • When the fire alarm activates, always treat the activation as if there is an actual fire. Exit the building immediately by using the stairwells (via the Lobby on level 1).  Do not go into the parking garage, as a power outage could prevent you from leaving the garage safely.
  • Before evacuating, turn off stove (if on) or any running water.
  • DO NOT CALL OR TEXT THE DOORMAN OR OLMOS TOWER STAFF. The Doorman and Olmos Tower Staff are busy locating the fire or determining if the alarm is false.
  • If a fire starts in your unit and the smoke has not yet triggered the hallway smoke detector, manually activate the fire alarm by pulling the red pull station on your floor (each floor has a pull station near the west stairwell door, which is located by the trash chute) and call “911”. Then promptly evacuate to the Lobby and inform the Doorman and/or Fire Department of the location of the fire.
  • Be aware that the fire alarm system is not floor specific. When one alarm is triggered, all alarms throughout the building activate simultaneously. In any case, treat the activation as if there is an actual fire and evacuate the building immediately.
  • Firefighting Equipment. Across from the elevators on each floor, there is a box containing a small fire extinguisher. This extinguisher is intended for putting out small fires. However, your priority is to evacuate the building and allow the Fire Department to manage the situation.
  • False Alarm.  If the fire alarm is determined to be a false alarm, a staff member will make that assessment, silence the alarms, and as soon as possible notify Residents.
  • Evacuation Assistance. For residents who may need assistance evacuating their units, notify the Property Manager so your name can be added to a special fire department evacuation list.
  • Acknowledgment of Fire Alarm Procedures and Evacuation Assistance Procedures. All owners and residents are required to acknowledge receipt and awareness of the Olmos Tower Fire Alarm Policy and Procedure. See acknowledgement form below.
Do not call the doorman!
